The Side Street to Sanity

You’ve heard about the Road to Recovery, the Straight and Narraw Path, and the Wide Road to Nowhere, but have you ever heard about the Side Street to Sanity?  I’m very excited because I found it today.  Many times, I miss it.  It’s hard to find, if you aren’t looking for it.  I’ve passed right by it before and didn’t even think about it until it was too late.  I was just certified a few months ago to teach a new Bible Study Called Pathway to Wholeness through Faith and Health Connection.  My first class is really going well and the ladies I’m teaching are wonderful.  During our session for this week it struck us all that we “miss the turn”, so to speak, sometimes that keeps us sane when dealing with stress.  It’s easy to miss the road because it’s not the one that we usually take.  We want to take the road before us, which is the “fix it ourself” road.  As Christians, we are not our own and we shouldn’t “do life” on our own.  So, when I am faced with people who don’t like me, can I come out okay?  Yes, because I don’t get my strokes from them, I get them from the almighty Father in Heaven.  He is my identity.  Can I still show love to those who dislike me and treat me with disrespect?  YES!  How?  I personally do not posess love for that person,  but Christ within me does and he can enable me, past my hurt, to gain strength from Him so that I can reach out and show His love to them.  It is with His Spirit that I am equipped to handle the situations that bring me, without him, into mental break down mode.   So, the Side Street to Sanity isn’t obvious to us most of the time.  You have to remember to follow your directions when you are driving through life with Christ.  We find that direction in His Word, the Holy Bible.   1 John 4:4  says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (NIV) If you would like to attend a Pathway To Wholeness Bible Study, please contact me. 1. Great post, Steph! My favorite, actually. This is so true. When our world does not make sense, the worst decision is to try to make it on our own. It’s dumb and a waste of time. Thank God that He enables us through His Spirit! Love to you,
    Patricia
